Welcome – Ministries – Adult Ministries – Elderlife Ministry – News – New Kerygma Bible Study offering - Your Bible! The Study Begins
A new bible study offering is beginning in March
Dates: Tuesday mornings, March 2 - April 13
Time: 10:00 - 11:30am
Place: The Lounge at Bell Street
Instructor: Peggie Jo Shinagawa
Your Bible! The Study Begins offers an introduction to the library of books which are the foundation of our faith. This Kerygma Program course provides a refreshing orientation to the Bible in a broad yet concise way.
We will review how this diverse collection of material, with its various parts, became one book. There will be a brief survey of Old and New Testaments. We will spend some time describing how this ancient book was translated into our modern languages, introduce some study resources and discuss the place of the Bible in our daily lives. (Perhaps this course should be called "Bible 001"
Kerygma started in 1977, with one course, and now offers over 33 courses of study. The major curriculum resource for
Your Bible! The Study Begins is the Bible, and you should have a Bible that contains good study notes, for example
The New Oxford Annotated Bible with Apocrypha (NRSV), The Oxford Study Bible with Apocrypha, The Harper Collins Study Bible or the New Jerusalem Bible (complete with study notes.)
In addition, a Resource Book tailored for this course needs to be purchased by each student at a
cost of $12.00. The student will be required to read scripture passages and related information in the Resource Book prior to each class.
Paid registration is due by Friday, February 19 to allow for the ordering of the resource guides.
The leader of this course is Peggie Jo Shinagawa, who is a trained Bethel Bible teacher and Stephen Ministry leader. Please contact Peggie Jo at
