Chris Ludwa to Bid Farewell

Home - Connect - Ministries - Music Ministry - News - Chris Ludwa to Bid Farewell It is with a very sad heart that I regret to inform you that I will be resigning from my position at Federated, especially on the heels of such a glorious music Sunday on April 23, thanks for the work of your Federated choirs and Marcia. On the other hand, I can't think of a better way to close one of the most enjoyable periods of my life and certainly one of the most pleasant working environments. I have never felt more appreciation in a job than I have in this one, and so you may be asking "So why are you leaving?"

The position of Assistant Professor of Music at Kalamazoo College and Director of Kalamazoo Bach Festival was not one that I sought, but one which sought me. That said, it is one of those opportunities of a lifetime, as if I had written the job description for both my professional and personal needs and then it became so. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything about my tenure here at Federated, and I look forward to the next month of worship services before I leave for Bay View on June 6.

Hamilton and Amy are already working on a succession plan, gathering job descriptions from other churches with impressive musical programs which can help Federated to navigate the waters of a search, and ideally producing a group of candidates that will be fantastic for the next chapter in Federated's musical life. I hope to help that process by using my connections and networks to help Federated create the job description and publicize the job.

The strength of any program in a church musical life is in its numbers, and Federated's programs are thriving as a result of the volunteers who put in so many hours to enhance the worship experience. I have the utmost confidence that those volunteers will remain committed to the program, engaged in finding your new music director, and then to continuing to spread the good news and joy through their music making here. I wish each of you nothing but the best as we continue the work of creating God's kingdom on earth.
