The Chagrin Valley Council of Churches (CVCC) started the Mindful Mondays™ program to help feed the hungry in Geauga and Cuyahoga Counties. Diners can present a coupon to participating restaurants in the Chagrin/Bainbridge area when dining out on Monday nights. A 10% portion (excluding alcohol and gratuities) of the cost of the dinner will be donated by the restaurant to the CVCC for the hunger program.

Participating restaurants include Raintree, Cosentino’s, Joey’s, Rick’s Café, Yours Truly, Washington Street Dinner, Burntwood Tavern (all 5 locations), Hunan by the Falls, Mazzullo’s, Raised and Glazed and more.

Proceeds will go to local food banks for the needy and hungry. We get to share a meal and time with our family while also being mindful of others who may be less fortunate. The concept of Mindful Mondays began with the desire to raise awareness about those who are hungry in our area, and to help local restaurants with their marketing and charitable-giving plans. It’s easy to see how the project can be viewed as a “win-win” for everybody involved!

The best part is that customers using their Mindful Mondays coupon may try out new restaurants or diners which will bring in lots of new business on traditional “slow” nights in the food service industry. Corporate sponsors are also being asked to donate funds to help with marketing and business expenses, and will receive free advertising.

Coupons and additional information, including the most up-to-date list of participating restaurants, can be found on the website for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

The Mindful Mondays program is described best by its motto, “Together we can HELP feed our neighbors in need”. It will warm our hearts to know our neighbors will be eating well, especially in these difficult economic times.
