Home - Worship
Sunday mornings at Federated Church,
Our two different worship experiences
We offer worship services at 9am and 11am from mid-September through May. Both services take place in our Sanctuary at 76 Bell Street and both services have the excellent music and the thought-provoking sermons that Federated Church is known for. We offer Communion on the first Sunday of each month, and on those Sundays, children join parents in the Sanctuary for the beginning of the service, and then will leave for Sunday School, and come back to share the Communion meal after the sermon.
At the 9am service we offer "family-style" worship. Children will be staying with their families in the Sanctuary through the offering, at which time they will leave to attend Sunday School through the end of the service. We make them feel heartily welcomed by exploring ways of worshiping that will speak to “all God’s children”: from the littlest among us to our most tenured members. Music, prayer, scripture, faith witnesses and hymns—all of these wonderful components of worship will be present as we come together as a multi-generational church family to praise God! The Ensemble is the home choir for this service.
During the 11am service, children will be in Sunday School the whole time, except for on Communion Sundays as noted above. This service will place greater emphasis on organ prelude and postlude, familiar hymns, and anthems by our Chancel Choir, all geared to feed the soul in a deeply spiritual way.
The Bell Choir and The Children's Choir will be featured monthly in both services, and an occasional surprise will keep things fresh.
During the summer months, from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, we offer a single Family Worship service at 10am in our Bell Street Sanctuary. (On Memorial Day Weekend that 10am service is held at our Family Life Center.)

Sunday mornings for families with children
For Infants & Toddlers
We love infants and toddlers at Federated! We are committed to providing a clean, safe, and age appropriate environment for your little ones while you attend church service. Our paid child care providers have undergone full background checks and drug screening. They are consistently here for easy transitions when parting with your child. Our goal for our nursery is to model God’s love for your child by providing quality care. We also have a Parents Room adjacent to the Sanctuary on Bell Street where parents can worship with their little ones while viewing the service on closed circuit television.
Sunday School for Preschoolers will take place in Kids Cove
(Room 30) using First Look, a curriculum designed specifically for the littlest learners. This curriculum focuses on communicating three basic truths to preschoolers through the use of Bible stories, videos, activities, music and crafts. These truths are:
*God made me.
*God loves me.
*Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
For Kindergartners through 6th graders
Throughout the program year, from mid-September through May, Sunday School is offered for this age group. The format differs at the two worship hours.
At the 9am worship hour,
the children will begin the morning in the Sanctuary every Sunday. They will be excused for approximately 25 minutes to enjoy a large group Discovery Island
(Room 220) gathering that will include the story and worship time. Children will return to the service following the sermon.
At the 11am worship hour
, the children will meet at Discovery Island
(Room 220) for a full hour of large and small group gatherings. Children should be picked up in their small group classrooms following the service. The exception to this is the first Sunday of the month when Communion is offered. On those Sundays, the children will begin in the Sanctuary, leave to enjoy the large group Discovery Island (Room 220) gathering and return to the Sanctuary for Communion.
At Discovery Island
we use a curriculum called 252 Basics. The teaching is based on three powerful truths modeled by Jesus in Luke 2:52:
*I need to make the wise choice. (Wisdom)
*I can trust God no matter what. (Faith)
*I should treat others the way I want to be treated. (Friendship)
The format for our mornings will include a large group gathering for the story and worship. The extended time at the 11am worship hour will allow for a breakout into small groups to apply elements of the lesson in fun ways.
Each month will incorporate a theme and a life application. Sample topics include:
Theme: Dirty Jobs
Life Application: Seeing what needs to
be done and doing it.(Initiative)
Theme: In Focus
Life Application: Discovering who you are
meant to be so you can make a difference. (Individuality)
For Junior High Youth (7th & 8th graders)
Throughout the program year, from mid-September through May, Sunday School is offered for this age group.
