SO I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS
Do I have to be a member to attend worship or participate in activities and programs?
We are very excited to have you here at Federated! You do not have to be a member to participate in worship, activities or programs. We think we have a very special faith community and welcome others to be a part of it. Join us for worship on Sunday, come share a meal at Wondrous Wednesdays, sign up for a Primetime event or bring your kids for Sunday School. We encourage you to take all the time you need to get to know us. We want you to feel at home here. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a member, look for our Inquirers’ Classes which are offered in the Fall and Spring. These classes will offer you an opportunity to learn even more about Federated Church, the United Church of Christ (UCC) and to meet others considering membership.
What is the preaching like?
Challenging and inspirational messages are an integral part of our Sunday worship services. First-time visitors often comment on the thought-provoking sermons. We don't shy away from difficult issues and we welcome doubters. God is still speaking and we are still listening.
What kind of music do you have?
Federated Church is an arts-focused community that uplifts music making in many forms. With four active ensembles, weekly services offer a wide range of music from week to week. Our Choir is an excellent ensemble that focuses on traditional choral singing from all time periods. Our Bell Choir and Children’s Choir uplift services every 6-8 weeks. The RISE to Shine Band offers more contemporary music once a month. Anyone is invited to join our ensembles and please contact Joshua Konow, our Director of Music Ministries, to see where you can help to make a joyful noise.
What do you believe?
Believing in Jesus Christ, the interpreter of God to humankind, we accept his teachings as the guiding principles of our lives and consecrate ourselves and our Church to their fulfillment. We therefore join and covenant, one with another, to worship, work and serve together, that we may express through our Church and our individual lives the love and faith taught by Jesus Christ. In a nutshell.
What about my kids?
Every Sunday morning, we offer childcare during the 10 am service beginning at 9:45 am in Room 230. While this room is geared for kiddos birth through preschool, anyone is welcome if they would be better served here than in worship or Sunday School.
Sunday School is offered most Sunday mornings during the school year for kiddos in kindergarten through 8th grade. Students begin by worshipping with their parents in the sanctuary and then are dismissed usually during the passing of the peace. Look for Ms. Kristin in the narthex! Elementary aged kiddos will be picked up in room 240 and middle school aged kiddos will be dismissed to Fellowship Hour from room 220 following the service. How does this church serve the community?
Following Jesus' example of love and justice, we seek to transform lives, including our own, through compassionate response, caring relationships, advocacy and active service. As a church, we partner with several local non-profits to serve those in need. Groups of all ages work together throughout the year on a variety of service projects. We also provide spaces within the church for groups to gather, including several support groups, scouts, music programs and much more.
